Fungal Nail Infection
Fungal nails may appear discoloured and/ or thickened. We test the nail for fungal infection using an immuno-chromotographic test strip for dermatophytes. This test is performed in clinic and results are available within 5 minutes. If the result of your test is positive we can commence treatment. Nail care will be carried out and treatment options discussed. For severe or longstanding fungal nail infections we advised Lacuna treatment. This is process of drilling micro-holes in the affected nail. This treatment is reserved for chronic fungal nail infections, with excellent results. Anti-fungal treatment is used daily after each visit, and through capillary action the anti-fungal agent is able to work more effectively on the fungal infection beneath the nail. Treatment may take up to a year depending on the degree of infection, as a nail takes approximately 12 months to grow. Follow ups are required every 6 weeks.

Verruca Treatment Swift Microwave Therapy
Warts and Verruca are caused by a strain of the human papilloma virus. They can be painful and cause cosmetic distress to people. New state of the art treatment is available. SWIFT - treats warts and verruca using microwaves providing heat to kill the virus. In the past verruca and warts were treated using freezing techniques, which are only mildly effective. Verruca and warts lie up to 8mm below the surface of the skin, and Swift microwave penetrates up to 10mm below the surface of the skin, ensuring full depth treatment. The protocol for Swift treatment is 3 treatments, 4-weeks apart and a follow up appointment 12-weeks after the final treatment.
